Rug Size Guide

9x12 and larger
This size works best in a 12'x18' or larger living room. The rule of thumb is to ensure that all four legs of each furniture piece is on the rug. Make sure the rug is at least six inches wider than the sofa on each side. Keep at least one foot between the walls and rug.
6x9 - 8x10 rug
For a rug in this size range, you'll want to make sure that the front legs of each furniture piece are on the rug. Make sure the rug is at least six inches wider than the sofa on each side. Leave one to two feet of flooring on each side of the rug. This size usually works best in a 11'x13' room. Keep at least one foot between the walls and rug.


9x12 and larger
All four legs of each dining room chair should be on the rug, with about 1-2 feet of space between the back legs of the chairs to each side of the rug. This size is fit for a table that seats 8+ people. Keep at least one foot between the walls and rug.
6x9 - 8x10
This size is best suited for a table that seats 6 people. All four legs of each dining chair should be on the rug, and they should push in and out easily while staying on the rug. Keep at least one foot between the walls and rug.


8x10 - 9x12+
Best for a king size bed. Place the rug just in front of the nightstands. It should extend out three feet beyond the left, right, and back sides of the bed. Keep at least one foot between the walls and rug.
6x9 - 8x10 rug
Best for a queen size bed. The rug should be placed at the foot of the bed. There should be about three feet of rug on the left and right sides of the bed. Keep at least one foot between the walls and rug.


Scatter rugs (3x5-5x7)
Best for a full size bed. Place one scatter rug on each side of the bed. If you have two twin beds, place on scatter rug in between the two beds.
